Five Ways to Make Mother’s Day Special

Where would we be without our mothers? They brought us into the world, and gave us our start in this life. As an amazing part of our journey, these lovely ladies deserve a little special treatment occasionally, don’t they? Mother’s Day is the perfect time to honor these extraordinary women with a special treat. If you are short on gift ideas, we have a few that might help:

Heartfelt and Homemade Gifts

Homemade gifts are a great way for the kids to show their love and appreciation for Mom, Grandma, or other special “Mother” figure in their lives. If your kids enjoy cooking, they could whip up a tasty dessert like this simple No-Cook Frozen Yogurt  or these easy Peanut Butter Oat Bites.

Handmade cards and pictures are always a hit with mom, too. If the gang is feeling creative, these Mother’s Day pop up cards offer a clever way to express their thanks. Other fun and easy handmade gifts include a pretty Keepsake Booklet or these unique Artwork Bookmarks.

The kids don’t have to be the only ones making homemade gifts, either. If you’re a kid at heart who has a crafty and creative side, mom is sure to appreciate your homemade treasures, too. Do you sew, knit, cook, enjoy crafts and DIY projects, do woodworking, paint, write poetry, draw, or…? Consider giving mom one of your handmade items. Or even if you aren’t the crafty type, easy to make gifts such as this attractive DIY Rope Basket or yummy Coffee Mug Mixers might bring out your inner creativity.

A Mini Vacation

What mom wouldn’t appreciate a little extra time to herself? Offer her a break in the routine, whether for a weekend, a day, or a few hours. A reprieve is always nice – from daily chores like cooking and cleaning to running errands and chauffeuring the kids. Assume some of her duties so she can enjoy a little down time to read a book, take a nap, watch a movie, or just sit and relax. Moms work hard nearly 24/7, so return the favor and let her know how much you appreciate all her efforts.

Make Mom Feel Beautiful

Our moms are already beautiful, of course, but a little extra pampering is always a welcome treat. Spoil mom by treating her to a gift certificate to a salon for a haircut, manicure, or massage. Or schedule a complete relaxation package with a day at the spa. Treat her to a new outfit at her favorite store, and then buy her lunch or dinner afterward.  Put together a pretty basket full of lotions, cosmetics, and other beauty items. Delight and indulge her with those goodies that she rarely buys for herself.

Help Mom Do What She Loves

Consider what mom enjoys doing, whether reading, exercising, cooking, shopping, visiting antique stores, doing DIY projects, etc. Purchase a gift card for the places she’d like to frequent. Or if there’s an event or class she’d like to go to, sign her up and then offer to watch the kids while she attends.

If mom is into DIY projects, she might enjoy browsing our inventory that includes paint, flooring, window treatments, and related home improvement supplies and tools. She also might like to check out our stock of The Big Green Egg and EGGcessories if grilling is her thing.  We offer gift certificates, and would be pleased to help her find whatever she needs.

Get Cooking!

Since most moms assume the cooking duties at home, she’d probably love a day off from the kitchen. Our area boasts numerous eating establishments, from fast food to fine dining, so there’s sure to be a spot that will fit your budget and strike mom’s fancy.

Another way to reward mom’s hard work in the kitchen is to make a meal for her. Let the kids get involved by helping with food prep and setting a pretty table. Make sure to clean up afterward. We’re sure mom will be grateful for that too!

Whatever you choose to do for your mom, don’t forget to tell her that she’s loved and appreciated. She gave you a great gift, bringing you into this world.

Happy Mother’s Day! The Andriot’s staff is grateful for all the fabulous moms in our community. We’re forever grateful for your love and selfless investment into our lives.
