Fresh Color Changes for Fall

fall-2016-andriots-022

With the holidays just around the corner, fall is the perfect time to freshen up your interior spaces. From the dining room, kitchen and living rooms to the master bath and bedrooms, small changes and a splash of color can go a long way in revitalizing your décor.

It doesn’t have to take a lot of time, effort, or money either. Here are three ideas to get you started.

Do a Mini Room Makeover

Freshen up a guest bath or powder room with new hues like the soothing blue tones of Benjamin Moore’s Warm Springs or Mosaic Glass.  Complete the look with coordinating guest towels, small area rug, and pretty wall prints.

Spruce up windows in any room with new draperies, blinds, or shades. Replace tired lampshades with new ones in coordinating colors, too. Add a few accent pillows and a cozy throw to tie the look together.

Purchase or make new tablecloths, runners, or cloth napkins to add a pop of fall color to the kitchen or dining room. Or bring the outdoors in – collect pine cones, acorns, or brightly colored leaves and add them to an autumn themed centerpiece.

Give the spare bedroom a fresh look with a new comforter and shams. Extra accessories, like a bedside table lamp, framed mirror, wall sconces, or comfy side chair can help complete the colorful transformation, creating a cozy respite for guests.

Paint an Accent Wall

An accent wall features a specific area with a different color that complements the other walls in the room. It can highlight an arrangement of photos, artwork, or a television, for example, or simply make its own special statement.

If the existing walls, for instance, are an earthy beige, Fiery Opal by Benjamin Moore might add the striking contrast you’re looking for.  If you’re painting the entire room, look for an accent color that will complement the more subdued tone of the other three walls.

Upcycle Old Household Items

Add personality to your interior design by upcycling. Repurpose unwanted or unused articles such as dressers, chairs, blanket chests, or coat racks. With a little TLC, these household articles can be rejuvenated, adding color, character, and function to a room.  Create one of a kind touches – shutters can become a headboard; a dresser a bathroom vanity, a blanket chest a coffee table, and so on. Put your imagination to work!

From new paint to DIY projects, a little creativity can go a long way to revitalize and perk up your indoor spaces. Why not welcome your holiday guests with some fresh and colorful changes?
